Practice Sessions and Office Hours are additional support opportunities available to students enrolled in Online Guided.
These sessions are designed to help students build confidence, receive guidance, and stay engaged throughout their ASL learning journey.
Group Practice Sessions
Practice Sessions provide opportunities for students to practice using American Sign Language in a supportive learning environment.
These sessions may include:
Conversational signing practice
Vocabulary review
Receptive skills practice
Expressive skills practice
Interactive activities
Questions and discussion
Practice Sessions are intended to help students apply what they are learning in their courses and gain additional signing experience.
Instructor Office Hours
Office Hours provide students with an opportunity to receive additional support from an instructor.
Students may use Office Hours to:
Ask questions about course material
Clarify assignments
Review challenging concepts
Receive learning guidance
Discuss their progress
Office Hours are designed to supplement the course and help students stay on track.

How Do I Join a Practice Session or Office Hours?
Instructions depend on which platform you are using.
New Platform Students (Enrolled April 2026 or Later)
If you are enrolled in Online Guided:
Log in to your account. https://login.startasl.com
Open any of your Online Guided courses.
Navigate to the For Guided Students section.
Select Join a Group Practice Session or Instructor Office Hours.
Choose the session you would like to attend.
Follow the instructions provided to join the session at the scheduled date and time.
Legacy Platform Students (Enrolled Before April 2026)
Students with an active legacy Online Course subscription may still participate in available sessions.
Log in to your account. https://login.startasl.com
Open any of your Online Course levels.
Select Start ASL Group Practice Sessions.
Choose a session date.
Complete any required registration steps.
Follow the instructions provided to join the session.
Important Notes
Practice Sessions are available only to eligible students.
Session schedules may change over time.
Registration may be required for some sessions.
Participation is optional but highly encouraged.
Are Practice Sessions and Office Hours Required?
No.
Participation is completely optional.
Students can successfully complete their courses without attending Practice Sessions or Office Hours.
These opportunities are provided as an additional benefit for students who would like extra support and practice.

Online Self-Study vs Online Guided
If instructor support, Practice Sessions, and Office Hours are important to you, Online Guided is generally the recommended option.
If you prefer to learn independently and do not need instructor support, Online Self-Study may be a better fit.
