Start ASL offers two online learning options:

  • Online Self-Study

  • Online Guided

Both options include the same core ASL curriculum, lessons, vocabulary, grammar instruction, Deaf culture content, quizzes, and learning activities. The primary difference is the level of instructor support.


Online Self-Study

Online Self-Study is designed for students who prefer to learn independently.

Can I Upgrade Later?

In many cases, students may upgrade from Online Self-Study to Online Guided if they decide they would like additional support. However, coursework is not transferred between Self-Study and Guided courses, so if you're unsure which option is right for you, we'd be happy to help you choose the best fit.
